AUI + CENTERPOINT
August 24, 2011
Centerpoint Builders and AUI have joined forces, AUI's director of commercial construction Tim Guedry tells us exclusively.
Tim feels its a marriage made in heaven—neither overlaps the other?s strengths. Both will retain their individual identities and continue operations as usual as they blend their best practices, Centerpoint prez David Gunderson (here with B2B CFO?s Tom Davis and Centerpoint?s Randy McKittrick at our June Bisnowmultifamily event) tells us. AUI is a full-service GC in both civil and commercial construction and is working on projects for DFW Airport and NTTA; it also has a strong presence in Fort Worth and Lubbock. Centerpoint specializes in income-producing real estate projects, including multifamily, commercial, medical, and retail with a presence in Dallas and Houston.
Through the addition of Centerpoint, both companies will be able to expand into new markets. ?Combined, AUI and Centerpoint?s portfolios and capabilities have expanded, allowing the firms to better suit the needs of their current and future clients,? David says. In total, the firms have an expected volume of $175M for 2011. David says the timing was right because banks are starting to lend and Centerpoint has a backlog of business; joining AUI will improve its back office support systems since the firm has been around for 30 years and has streamlined processes. The first project that Centerpoint will build in the new relationship is a 100k SF $7M mixed-use/student housing development for TCU, which broke ground last week. |
