Bush Library: TMZ Meets CRE
We had a front row seat to history last Thursday: five presidents and first ladies assembled at the dedication of the George W Bush Presidential Center.
President Obama recalled finding a letter in his desk on his first day in office from 43 offering encouragement. To know this man is to like the man. He doesnt put on pretenses. He is a good man, he said.
Luckily Dikembe Mutombo didn't swat down any of our cameras. Dikembe and 43 go way back.The prez mentioned the former Houston Rockets player in the 2007 State of the Union address for his efforts to help the people in his native Congo.He created the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation, which built a hospital in Congo that has treated more than 80,000 people since it opened in 07. President Bush was praised by his fellow presidents for his efforts to help the African people by increasing US aid while in office and for continuing his efforts through the George Bush Institute.
There were also local CRE stars there. We snapped Stewart Titles Melissa Eastman and her husband, real estate lawyer Joel Eastman. Here are some of the greats on hand, presumably eager to meet Melissa and Joel: former British prime minister Tony Blair, former secretary of state Colin Powell, and Cowboys great Troy Aikman.The library opens to the public on Wednesday.
