FACELIFT
March 21, 2011
Just before spring break, we hit the road to Houston to sample the swanky, and recently upgraded La Colombe d?Or in the eclectic Montrose/Museum District. The family owned and operated hotel just entered its 30th year with a property-wide renovation and launch of Restaurant CINQ under the direction of Mansion on Turtle Creek alum Jeramie Robison. (No price was disclosed.) The hotel is part of a 1920s mansion originally built for the founder of Humble Oil—now Exxon—and includes five suites and nine residential-style villas (we snapped this of the courtyard in the center of the villas) in a separate building. The renovations were implemented by Dallas-based Vision Design. And, if you're an art afficianado, take a turn around the hotel: it has its own art gallery and a ballroom sheathed in panels dating back to 1715 and imported from France. |
