HIGHWAY STAR
The US Department of Transportation ruled that DFW?s recently adopted long-term transportation plan complies with federal air quality regs and can keep on trucking. Approved by the Regional Transportation Council in March, Mobility 2035 contains $101.1B in transportation improvements to be made over the next 24 years. The plan defers an additional $45B in improvements until after 2035 because of the region's funding shortfall. The DOT also gave the nod for the 2011-14 Transportation Improvement Program (a multiyear list of DFW projects approved for federal, state and local funding). All of this is important because of the region's ozone non-attainment status. |
