MARATHONERS
Ditching the button-downs for running shoes, Behringer Harvard not only served as a sponsor of the Dec 13 White Rock Marathon but found nearly 100 employees to either run or volunteer at water stations. Pictured are some half-marathon participants: Roberto Garcia, Natasha Gilbert, Stacy Comiskey, and David Tarango. Stacy, who just completed her first semester of law school, said this was her second half-marathon.
John Billingsley deserves more than that medal: He ran the whole marathon and actually calls it a fun experience. The course began and ended near downtown Dallas, running to and around White Rock Lake. The Boston Marathon-qualifying event capped with 20,000 participants in various races. The primary beneficiary of weekend events was Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
Behringer also sponsors the SMU Cox Corporate Relay Challenge in which teams of five run the full 26.2 miles. And people thought the assembly line was dead? Calling themselves “Opportunity Knocks,” this was the firm's top team: Al Palamara, Nick Berk, Rick Weiland, Sam Gillespie, and Derek Vick. Team captain Sam (also the COO), in his tenth relay, said he pulled rank and chose the anchor leg. Seems he chose correctly: his 6.2-mile leg was mostly downhill. |
