MEET DFW WRITER: TONIE AUER
Tonie Auer
Doing the claw, Bisnow DFW reporter Tonie Auer is ready for the World Series (and a Bowl game for her alma mater, Baylor Bears). Tonie started her journalism career as the editor of her high school paper in the Fort Worth suburb of Kennedale. Her past interview subjects have ranged from serious to bizarre, including the penguin-keepers at Sea World (she collects penguins, but wasn’t able to sneak a Rockhopper out with her) and Hall of Fame athletes like Roger Staubach and Emmitt Smith (as well as infamous athletes like the namesake of the Mendoza Line). She even broke the story when then Rangers owner George W. Bush filed papers to run for governor. Before coming to Bisnow last year, the award-winning writer wrote for several daily papers, including the Fort Worth Business Press and Commercial Property News. She’s also blogged for Forbes.com. Tonie says she’s excited to celebrate DFW Bisnow’s one-year anniversary with our Retail Summit tomorrow, where she will trade in the sports gear for a camera and notepad.
