Remembering Jim Vanderslice

Our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of CNL Commercial Real Estate principal Jim Vanderslice, who died Sunday. Younger Partners' Moody Younger worked with Jim at Grubb & Ellis and tells us Jim was a wonderful human being who provided tremendous leadership and perspective to him and all of the Grubb & Ellis team. "You rarely see people as strong and ruggedly independent as Jim was; he was a valued member of the real estate community and a true friend. We will all miss him," Moody says. Over the course of his 30-year career, Jim also served as vice chairman of Cushman & Wakefield and eventually formed Vanderslice Realty Group prior to his time with Grubb & Ellis. Jim (along with CNL's Will Sale) recently completed the 21k SF lease for Cadence McShane for its new corporate HQ at Liberty Plaza in Addison with Holt Lunsford Commercial's Byron McCoy and Lauren Halstedt repping the owner, Franklin Street. Jim's services will be 3pm tomorrow in the Highland Park United Methodist Church sanctuary at 3300 Mockingbird Ln.
