SHOPAHOLICS
The International Council of Shopping Centers gathered real estate professionals Monday at the Crowne Plaza Dallas for networking, lunch, and a program featuring speaker-trainer-coach-author (and that’s on one cup of coffee) Jack Daly.
Goodwin Commercial Properties’ Pam Goodwin introduced Jack, who started his career in retail (spending seven years in the grocery business) before his entrepreneurial journey building six companies from scratch into national companies. He advises nine touches with a new prospect to build trust. (No hands, but e-mails, phone calls, personal visits, and snail mail.) If starting six companies didn’t demonstrate his risk-taking, he has also bungee jumped off the world's first and largest bungee jumps.
The Weitzman Group’s Mitch Cribbs and Northmarq SVP Ronald Reese. Mitch has been doing a lot of third-party leasing on the retail tenant side. Without much new space going up, his focus has been backfilling vacant properties around Plano, Frisco, and The Colony. Working in commercial finance, Ron says he’s looking for triple net opportunities and some redevelopment of retail. Conservative lenders and cap rate issues continue to stifle business, but the year is ending better than it started, he says.
An editor once told us than you can never go wrong with pics of kids, dogs, or pretty girls. Here's the latter: Pam, the ICSC program chairwoman for Dallas programs, The Momentum Company’s “Big Kahuna” (that’s what her biz card says) Eloise Owens, and Annandale’s Sue Hageman. Eloise is a business coach working with Pam to improve her sales style and brand awareness. (We don’t mean cattle brands; we’re quite sure the bulls are aware of those.) Pam focuses on developments in small Texas markets. She’s working now with Showbiz Cinemas on an 18-acre development in Waxahachie, marketing five pad sites there.
JLL’s John Ream and Michael Formanek are looking forward to the holidays and some time off. John’s heading south to Houston to see his family and Michael, who just started at JLL two weeks ago, is flying home to Iowa. What’s waiting for him there? Family, of course, and 17 inches of snow. We see a snow shovel in his future.
Fastsigns International’s Lana Daley and city of Cedar Hill marketing/business retention manager Michaela Dollar. Michaela says Cedar Hill has new Class A office space available along Uptown Boulevard and FM 1382. As director of sales development, Lana says her focus is helping the company’s franchisees build sales through outside sales programs.
Weitzman Group’s VP Steve Gray and Venture Commercial’s Bryan Cornelius pause for a quick pic. Steve works on the project side, listing properties across the Metroplex. Bryan, who does tenant rep, is trying to work a deal with Steve for Save-A-Lot in South Dallas. Resume your discussions, men. |
