STRENGTH IN GIVING
October 27, 2010
We’ve been so busy flexing our news muscles—sort of like Corrigan’s Jill Ibison showing off her guns—that we’ve made you wait to hear about the $500k that The Real Estate Council raised at its annual Giving Gala on Oct. 14 at the Anatole Sculpture Park at the Hilton Anatole. We snapped Jill’s valiant effort to ring the bell at the gala. (She was oh so close.) When she’s not wielding the mallet, she’s working on the Oncor corporate interior renovation.
Sitting stageside, we snapped TREC prez Linda McMahon and HFF’s Trey Morsbach (also the Giving Gala chairman). Linda tells us one of her goals as the new prez will be to expand member services while also engaging the membership through the Foundation. TREC is celebrating its 20th anniversary year and has much to celebrate: raising more than $20M in 20 years; the realization of its first impact project, the Woodall Rodgers deck park; and launching two education programs—Green Building Education and Real Estate 101—to achieve goals in its focus areas of jobs, housing, education, and the environment.
Dodging the two-steppin’ and moving to the tunes, we snapped Texas music legend Robert Earl Keen at the event. Before the concert, former TREC chairman Todd Williams was presented with the Community Spirit Award. With his wife Abby, Todd helped launch Uplift Education’s Williams Preparatory. Trey says Todd was selected for his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Dallas children through public education, his joyous spirit and exceptional ability to bring people and resources together for the betterment of the city. |
