Woodbine Development's Success Story
Woodbine Development Corp managing director Dupree Scovell cut his teeth at Trammell Crow, where he helped launch the Dallas retail development platform, then went on to earn two masters degrees from Stanford before moving to LA. It all led him to his role today at a company his father, John Scovell, founded in 1972 in partnership with Ray Hunt. It was during his time in LA that Dupree led Woodbine's hospitality acquisition and investment efforts. Woodbine has a 40-year track record of successful hospitality investment ($1.4B in projects and ownership or managment of more than 6,000 hotel room s). The company concentrates on four areas: big box development (the DNA of the company, he says), with projects ready to go in Tysons Corner and coastal California; select service development with Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton projects on the table; the acquisitions platform, reflagging, and rebranding properties in Western markets; and fee development, in which they do about $100M (asset value) annually in third-party projects for select clients. He was also one of our distinguished speakers this morning at the Dallas Hotel Investment Summit. For more info on our client, click here.
