Celina's Next Step: More Retail
The next step in Celina's rapid development is the build-out of retail.
The North Dallas exurb, 42 miles north of Downtown Dallas, nearly tripled its population in the past decade; and its sales tax collections grew 45.94% from December 2019 to December 2020 alone, according to the Celina Economic Development Corp.
As more people head into the exurb, retail development is picking up. Next up is Celina Pike 1915, a proposed retail project that's part of a larger 18-acre mixed-use development planned for the corner of Preston Road and Ash Street.
Weitzman's Cameron Mai is handling leasing for the first phase of retail, which covers close to 8K SF in multi-tenant space.
The name Celina Pike 1915 honors the year in which Celina Pike opened as the first road in Collin County for automobiles.
Phase 1 of the mixed-use development is slated to begin construction next month. The Weitzman leasing team is marketing restaurant, gym, spa, dental and medical office space to future tenants.
Phase 2 will eventually include the construction of 400 upscale apartments, with that groundbreaking scheduled for 2022.
More retail is surely to come as Celina's population booms and the area catches the eye of commercial developers.
"It's in the direct path of investment and always has been in what most land investors consider to be the fairway. It's destined for large growth," Younger Partners' Robert Grunnah told Bisnow earlier this year.
