Happy 20th Birthday, DART
Yesterday morning, Dallas Area Rapid Transit threw a little shindig to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
Six DART rail stations had giveaways, photo booth-style props and an oversized Happy Anniversary card for patrons to sign.
On June 14, 1996, DART debuted an 11-mile network of lines. Today, DART Rail is the longest in North America at 90 miles with 62 stations in eight cities.
In October, DART Rail will extend to 93 miles and 64 stations with the opening of a three-mile extension from Ledbetter Station to UNT Dallas, which isn't the first time DART has made major expansions in recent years.
