Famed EDS Founder, Presidential Candidate And Billionaire Ross Perot Is Dead
Ross Perot Sr., the mind behind the development of Plano-based EDS and a former presidential candidate, has died at the age of 89, a family spokesperson has confirmed.
Perot’s EDS, which was later sold to HP, was one of the first corporate campuses to frame the west side of Plano, Texas, as a hub for enterprise and corporate campuses. He is credited with the creation of the master-planned Legacy business park in Plano.
Perot maintained a steady presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth business community with his involvement in building up both EDS and Plano-based Perot Systems.
He is the father of developer Ross Perot Jr., chairman of The Perot Group, which manages the Perot family’s numerous interests in everything from oil to real estate.
Perot Jr. serves as chairman of Hillwood, a North Texas development company founded in 1988 and a force behind the booming AllianceTexas corridor.
