A Taste of Bisnow’s DFW Hospitality Summit
Things are changing fast in the hotel arena. (Almost as fast as your sheets at a 5-star venue) To help everyone keep up, we're hosting Bisnow’s third annual DFW Hospitality Summit on Wednesday, March 19 at the Westin Galleria Dallas. (Register here.) One of the speakers will be Gatehouse Capital CEO Marty Collins, who tells us urban limited service hotels in the 150- to 200-key range with third-party restaurants are a mainstay, as are dual hotel brands in same project of 300 keys or more.
Marty says Gatehouse is evaluating a couple of hotel projects in Houston, one mixed-use in an Uptown retail center and one downtown on a parking structure (sleep where you park?--seems hotels are really going after the RV market). Both are planned with an apartment co-development bid partner. On the smaller side, Gatehouse has a few local select-serve projects: aloft in Museum District Fort Worth (pictured), a Marriott Courtyard for a city conference center just outside of Dallas, and a Cambria Suites on a hospital campus adjoining a new parking garage and MOB. Marty says he hopes to have these moving in the next couple of months. Everything is always harder than it should be with urban, he says, but they’re probably more durable products.
