Trump Hotels To Bring First-Ever Scion Hotel To Downtown Dallas, Funded By Foreign Investors
Dallas will be the test kitchen for a new line of non-Trump-branded Trump Hotels called Scion. The 220-room hotel on St. Paul Street between Young and Wood streets will have a Turkish furniture store, a steakhouse, a seafood restaurant, 20k SF of ground-floor retail, a coffee shop and a small-format market. This is not the first time Trump Hotels have been discussed in Big D.
The hotel will be the first of its kind in the U.S., and will be a model for a future Detroit hotel.
Alterra International is under contract for two parcels of land, totaling one acre, and will develop the hotel. Creative director Nile Tuzun hinted at the project last week when she spoke at Bisnow’s Urbanization and Future of Downtown Dallas event.
An affiliate of Larry Hamilton’s company called Hamilton St Paul Grp has a contract to sell the land to Mike Sarimsakci, founder of Alterra, the Dallas Business Journal reports. The land is valued at nearly $1M.
Sarimsakci said investors from Turkey, Katari and Kazakhstan will fund the project, and no city money will be involved. [DBJ]
