Bell Textron, which is headquartered in Fort Worth and is working to build a $20M test lab in Arlington, applied for an incentive through the state’s Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation Act that would translate to a 10-year reduction in property taxes, according to the Fort Worth Report.

In exchange, the company would invest $429M in construction and equipment, according to its application. The project could eventually create more than 400 jobs with an average annual wage of $85K.

The company is interested in a 447K SF vacant manufacturing facility at 15100 N. Beach St. that used to house Stanley Black & Decker, which shuttered operations last year amid a series of layoffs.

Bell has toured and evaluated locations in three states and has incentive proposals under review from each, company executives said in the application. If chosen, the capital investment in the Fort Worth plant could exceed $600M by the end of the 10-year incentive period, the company reported.

The state comptroller has 60 days to act on Bell’s application once complete, but approval from the governor and the local school district is also required. Bell is also hoping to receive another $3M in grants from the Texas Enterprise Fund and the city of Fort Worth.
