Harwood Cows Take to the Skies

Placeholder

It's a bird, it's a plane...it's a cow? No, your eyes aren't deceiving you. That is, indeed, a cow on top of that crane. But, don't be alarmed, it's just one of Harwood International's signature cow sculptures atop the construction crane over Bleu Ciel at the northwest corner of Wolf and McKinnon streets. The cows are Harwood's "placemakers for the district." You'll notice the cows on the corners of each Harwood development. By the way, Bleu Ciel will be open by 2017, and sales have exceeded Harwood expectations with four homes under contract in one week.

Why cows? A Harwood spokeswoman tells us they are symbolic of the Swiss heritage of Harwood International founder and CEO Gabriel Barbier-Mueller as they are Swiss cows. The cows are placed on the cranes of the new developments to represent a "moo" addition to the Harwood family of developments. (She said it, not us.) Stay tuned for another crane and cow on the next development—The Rolex Building—designed by Dallas-based HDF and Tokyo-based Kengo Kuma.
