Arlington Approves New Rangers Ballpark
Rangers fans will have a shadier view of their baseball team thanks to approved taxpayer funding for a new $1B ballpark with a retractable roof in Arlington.
After many rumors of the Rangers relocating to Dallas, voters approved funding for the new stadium with a half-cent sales tax (already in place to fund the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium), a 2% hotel occupancy tax and a 5% car rental tax with 60% of the votes. These taxes could fund up to $500M for the $1B ballpark.
The Texas Rangers will stay in Arlington until at least 2054 with the new stadium planned on what is now a parking lot just south of East Randol Mill Road.
About 116k Tarrant County residents voted in the proposal.
