Louisiana-based chicken chain Raising Cane’s has purchased a 400K SF office campus in Plano’s Legacy Business Park, more than tripling its DFW real estate as it expands its restaurant support operations.

The fast-growing restaurant brand, which operates more than 800 restaurants in 40 states, is on track to hit $10B in sales and 1,600 locations by the end of the decade, the company said in an announcement. The new business park location will help support that growth.

Raising Cane’s new home base at 5320 Legacy Drive was once part of Ross Perot’s Electronic Data Systems campus. It will house 480 existing employees and has space for additional hires.

“The expansion into our new office represents the great success we’ve achieved over the past 16 years in Plano and is a nod at all the milestones to come as we continue expanding our crew and opening restaurants around the world,” Raising Cane’s co-CEO A.J. Kumaran said in a statement. “The City of Plano has been a great partner for us throughout the years and we’re looking forward to continuing our partnership and support of the community as we open the doors to our new [Dallas Restaurant Support Office] next year.”

The chicken chain’s history in Plano stretches back to 2009, when it leased 24K SF at the Legacy Business Park. Support operations later moved to 6800 Bishop Road, where the company leases 120K SF.

Cane’s plans to remodel the campus over the next year and move in sometime in 2025.

Plano City Council voted Monday to award the company $6.2M in incentives over 15 years, Community Impact reported. Cane’s has pledged to create up to 1,020 full-time equivalent jobs and make $20M in building improvements.

Some of the financial incentives from the city are tied to job creation, while others are aimed at mitigating improvement costs and covering city fees.
