City of Dallas Gets A+
On regulatory climate, that is. The City of Dallas took top honors, according to the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Regulatory Climate Index. What Dallas does well: low tax burden; streamlined permitting and licensing that is expedited as businesses apply and attain construction permits; and lower deal costs for small businesses because of no real estate transfer taxes at the state and local levels.
The US Chamber of Commerce sings Big D’s praises, too, noting that 18 Fortune 500 companies (like JCPenney) and 12 of Forbes top private companies call Dallas home. We also have 148 companies ranked in the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing private companies. (Rather than seeing who has the best lawn, these neighbors see who has the best Fast Company cover photo.)
