American Airlines Plans New HQ in Fort Worth

American Airlines announced plans last week for a new 300-acre campus just across State Highway 360 from its current HQ in Fort Worth.

The company plans to demolish the former Sabre Holdings HQ and lease an additional 97 acres adjacent to the 200 acres it already leases. The current AA HQ is nearly 30 years old and has many outdated key building systems. As opposed to expensive renovations, the company has opted to build a new facility that will better integrate with existing facilities, the Dallas Morning News reports. Executives within the company have been discussing options for months, including a site proposed by Irving officials near the old Texas Stadium.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will need to approve plans as it owns the land. The airport recently revealed its new branding strategy, identifying itself as a global superhub with a tagline of “Travel. Transformed.” AA expects to break ground on the new HQ next spring and be ready to move in sometime in Q3 2018[DMN]
