Tis The Season To Give Back
Toy drives, food banks and ugly sweaters, oh my! These real estate teams know that while their own holidays might be filled with warm coats, full bellies and lots of gifts, that’s not the case for everyone in North Texas or throughout the world. Warm your heart with the charitable acts of these little elves.
E Smith Realty helped Dallas-area families at Christmas in the Park at Fair Park last week. The SM Wright Foundation alleviates hunger and provides educational, social services and economic resources for local families. The E Smith team helped sort and give coats, clothes, food and toys or bikes to benefit up to 40,000 local children.
Cushman & Wakefield’s annual Ugly Sweater Dodgeball Tournament combines the best aspects of the holidays: a giving heart, a competitive spirit and some tacky Christmas sweaters. By charging each participant to bring a new toy benefiting Toys for Tots, teams compete in a double elimination tournament to determine the winner. Parmenter team member Acacia Dial delivered toys for Parmenter’s annual Dallas CASA toy drive. Parmenter partnered with its tenant base at Mandalay Towers to host the toy drive.
HKS delivered supplies to its maternity ward in Kachumbala, Uganda. The team assembled 1,000 clean birthing kits with soap, a single-edged razor blade in cardboard, disposable gloves, alcohol wipes and receiving blankets. These kits help reduce infection and increase birthing mortality and were shipped to Global Health Charities. HKS partnered with Engineers for Overseas Development to build the ward in March 2016 and will open the center in March 2017.
KWA Construction employees volunteer at Samaritan Inn, a program that helps homeless people regain independence by providing case management services. KWA also volunteered at Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center to help both humans and animals prepare for an adoption event. KWA collected donations of towels, blankets, food and treats. Here’s the team Thanksgiving week.
Younger Partners donated toys for Community Partners of Dallas, which provides resources for abused and neglected children served by Dallas County Child Protective Services. Here are Younger Partners’ Carter Crow, Autumn Stallings, Anthony Chammah, Lacey Queen, Felecia Miskell and Britnai Stegall.
Younger Partners’ Garrett Marler and Haines Co’s David Haines coached Team Blonde for the BvB (blondes vs. brunettes) Dallas powder puff football game, which raised more than $500k for Alzheimer’s research and awareness.
Camden employees volunteered through Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas’ Operation Freedom program to repair five homes owned by veterans in Dallas. This project included exterior painting, installing motion lights, landscaping, cleanup and more. Here’s the Camden Cares team after volunteering last month.
TIG volunteered at the North Texas Food Bank earlier this month and packaged more than 6,000 meals for the hungry.
Republic Title’s Commercial office cooked and served lunch to 120 men and women at Austin Street Shelter around Thanksgiving. Austin Street provides food, sleeping arrangements and resources for the homeless.
