293k SF Ikea Proposed for Grand Prairie
Home furnishings giant Ikea has submitted plans for a 293k SF store in Grand Prairie, which would be its second location in the North Texas area.
The Swedish retailer plans the store for an undeveloped tract of land on 32 acres on the east side of State Highway 161 and Mayfield Road. The company anticipates receiving incentives from the city for infrastructure and building utilities, which would aid in further development. Ikea is also evaluating the possibility of on-site power generation, in line with 90% of its US locations, which are powered in part by renewable energy.
The company hopes to have approval in hand in the beginning of 2016 and to close on its land purchase in the spring. Building would commence in summer 2016 with an expected opening in fall 2017. [DBJ]
