Bisnow Scoop: Sylvan|Thirty Cooks Up Chef Daniele Puleo Site

Chef Daniele Puleo inked a deal to open Bottega Italia at Sylvan|Thirty in December, Bisnow learned late last night. Now, you don’t have to drive to Fort Worth to get your Daniele food fix. (We can smell the pies now.)

After selling his popular Daniele Osteria hotspot in Dallas several years ago, his fans have had to drive to Tarrant County to sample his wares. Now, the chef (who lives in Kessler Park with his wife, Christina, just a few blocks away from Sylvan|Thirty) has signed on for a 4,400 SF market, which will also feature a 2,200 SF patio to open an Italian- and Napa Valley-inspired eatery, market, coffee, and wine bar. (And you can afford more since you don't have to pay for gas to drive there.) Construction should start within a few weeks. The couple still plans to own and operate Inzo Italian Kitchen in Fort Worth and Roanoke.

The chef tells us the site will overlook Sylvan|Thirty’s park and offer a full-service Lavazza coffee bar, cafe with handmade pizzas (his pies are amazing) and made-to-order sandwiches and salads. It will also feature a deli counter and a market with pastas, olives, cheeses, and charcuterie, as well as grab-and-go options of specialty prepared foods. Bonus: it'll have more than 350 wine labels and multiple locally brewed beers on tap. “We want Bottega Italia to be a fun place for our neighbors in Oak Cliff and West Dallas to shop, eat, drink, and be happy,” Daniele says. The couple plans to host wine and cheese tastings, as well as cooking classes. (The latter is not the source of the former.)

Retail Street Advisers partner Zac Porter (who repped Sylvan|Thirty along with colleague Helen Hill) tells us restaurants and retailers want to be in Oak Cliff because there continues to be pent-up demand for creative concepts in that neighborhood. Oak Cliff attracts consumers from across the region because of it. Cambridge Co’s Carter Wilson and Lee Koons repped Daniele in the deal and interior designer Ron Guest will develop the restaurant’s interior spaces.
