Mixed-Use, Office Plays a Role in The Colony
Jackson-Shaw’s 100-acre Cascades at The Colony was already seeing success (having opened in 2008) before the Nebraska Furniture Mart joined the party. Jackson-Shaw VP Jason Nunley (left, with The Colony Mayor Joe McCourry) tells us momentum and success trigger more development because companies want to locate in active areas. Directly across the street from NFM, the project broke ground in the spring on its second phase, which includes 120k SF of office/tech space. A 130-room Courtyard Marriott, scheduled to open in 2015, will break ground in the Q4, too, he tells us. Upon completion, Cascades will include 350k SF of office, light industrial, retail and restaurants, three hotels, event center, wedding chapel, and 613 residential homes.
