The Denver Downtown Renaissance

Tami Door is the CEO of Q Factor, and the former CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership. She joined the Partnership in 2005 after serving as executive vice president of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s largest regional chamber, and as vice president of a five state division of NBD-First Chicago. She is the co-founder of Denver Startup Week and The Commons on Champa. Tami is a recognized leader for her innovative approach to convening, collaborating and innovating to build a strong City. She is the incoming Chairman of the International Downtown Association.

Paul Washington is the Market Director of the Rocky Mountain Region for JLL, a Fortune 500 real estate professional services and investment management firm. He oversees day-to-day operations for the region, including managing a team of more than 265 professionals and pursuing integrated business development opportunities across JLL’s business lines. Paul previously served as Executive Director of the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED). As an appointee of Mayor Michael B. Hancock, he led a multi-disciplinary team of 105 staff at OED dedicated to creating a local environment that stimulates balanced growth through job creation, business assistance, housing options, neighborhood redevelopment and the development of a skilled workforce. During his five-year tenure, Paul’s annual economic development strategies directly influenced the creation and retention of more than 30,000 jobs, while leveraging more than $818 million in private capital investment. Prior to joining the City, Paul was the president of LJS Holdings LLC, a leading finance advisory firm specializing in international mergers, acquisitions and investment banking. LJS Holdings represents a select group of clients, including companies in Kuwait, India and Germany. Paul began his professional career as an attorney at the law firm of Hogan Lovells, specializing in large merger and acquisition transactions. Paul holds a Series 7, 24 and 28 securities license and is a member of the California and Colorado Bar Associations. He was appointed by Colorado Governor Bill Ritter to the State Securities Board in 2009 and by Governor John Hickenlooper to the University of Northern Colorado Board of Trustees in 2012. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he teaches a graduate course in Business Planning. In 1991 Paul earned his B.S. in business (finance) from the University of California at Berkeley and in 1996 received his JD from that institution’s Boalt Hall School of Law, where he was president of the graduate student body. He earned a Master’s degree in Taxation from the University of Denver in 2012. Paul currently resides in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and son.

Chad McWhinney has been a visionary leader in the real estate industry for more than 25 years. Entrepreneur of the Year by Northern Colorado Business Report, Rising Business Star by Fort Collins’ Coloradoan and NAIOP Developer/ Owner of the Year. McWHINNEY and the Denver Union Station Alliance were honored with the prestigious 2015 Urban Land Institute Global Award for Excellence, and Chad also received a commendation from the Colorado House of Representatives for his work on Denver Union Station. He is a past chair of the Teach for America Regional Board of Directors, and previously served as a member of the Board of Directors for Downtown Denver, Inc., the Colorado State University System Board of Governors, the Board of Directors for the Poudre Valley Health System Foundation, National Association of Industrial & Office Properties (NAIOP) Colorado Chapter, Northern Colorado Economic Development Corporation, Centennial Bank of the West, Guaranty Bank & Trust Company, was a member of the Urban Land Institute and Colorado Forum, and the Denver International Airport Management Advisory Council. Chad’s personal mission is “to create a better world”.

Charles Pinkham III is Senior Vice President of Development for Portman Holdings. With nearly two decades of commercial real estate experience, Charles is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and executing developments across the United States. He manages program conceptualization, entitlement, design, construction, and transition to operations for a multitude of developments, including office, hotel, life science, retail, and mixed-use projects. Charles has worked for Portman Holdings for more than 15 years, previously leading development finance in Portman’s Shanghai office. Prior to joining Portman Holdings, he worked for WestWind Capital Partners on the asset management team overseeing a trophy office and class-A retail portfolio valued at $2.5 billion. Before WestWind, he worked in private equity for Eads & Heald Investment Counsel. Charles currently serves on the NAIOP Mixed-Use Development National Forum and is a member of the Real Estate Group of Atlanta. He is active in his community, serving on the stewardship board and volunteering for East Cobb Church, as well as serving on the board for O’Kelley Servant Leadership, an affiliate of the Atlanta Children’s Foundation. Charles earned a BBA degree in Finance from The University of Georgia.

Joseph E. (Joey) Lubinski is the co-leader of the firm's Insurance Company and Institutional Investments Team and a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. Mr. Lubinski counsels clients on a variety of complex real estate financing matters. He represents national and regional banks, life insurance companies, and private equity firms in the origination of permanent, construction and mezzanine loans of all sizes and also represents special servicers and other lenders in loan workouts and foreclosures. He co-authored the Colorado chapter of the state-by-state Foreclosure Law and Related Remedies guide published by the American Bar Association. Mr. Lubinski also represents REITs, developers, and community development entities in the acquisition, sale, and development of mixed-use projects, multifamily complexes, and resort and hotel condominiums. He is the Chair of the Hotels, Timesharing and Common Interest Development Group of the ABA's Real Property Trust and Estate Section. Along with Beverly Quail, Joey is the editor of Colorado Real Estate Forms and is a former editor of the real estate column for The Colorado Lawyer. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association's Real Estate Section Council.
