GLOBAL DATA DEALS
August 16, 2012
The data center industry is on fire. Ask CBRE’s Hilary Faulk about one of her clients that is seeking multiple data centers in many US and international markets. Hilary told us the client (unnamed because clients like that 007 Bond anonymity) is seeking various product types, including ground-up and co-location. | |
Most recently, Hilary and the CBRE team of Pat Lynch, Robert Fahey, and Michael Harrell brought this 121k SF data center in Philly to market. Another industry helping feed the data center boom is healthcare, Hilary tells us, because hospitals and healthcare providers are considering co-location as a "viable option" for their mission critical facilities. “There’s a paradigm shift where they originally wanted to control all their assets. Now there’s a co-location opportunity,” she says. And that may mean that data centers stuffed into the basement of hospitals “will hopefully be a thing of the past in the next five years or so.” |
