Gaylord Rockies Resort Gets $500M in Backing
The developer of the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Houston-based RIDA Development Corp, says it has a $500M financial commitment to the project near DIA.
It's the latest development in a saga of getting the project out of the ground, which has so far involved a change of developer (Gaylord Entertainment was first), a lawsuit over local TIF money, and another suit by a hotel group asserting that the project received $81M in state tourism money improperly, according to the Denver Post.
The hotel group lost its case in a lower court, but has now appealed to the Colorado Supreme Court. Ground broke earlier this year on the 1,500-room hotel and convention center. [DP]
