McWhinney Breaks Ground On Hyatt Place At Peña Station NEXT
Colorado developer McWhinney has broken ground on a 226-room Hyatt Place hotel at Denver’s Peña Station NEXT, a transit-oriented, mixed-use development adjacent to Denver International Airport.
Scheduled to open in late 2019, the hotel will have 3,500 SF of meeting space, free WiFi, a 24-hour fitness center, an indoor pool, a gaming area and a library and business center. There also will be a large bar with a revolving wall that opens to the outside, a 24/7 Gallery Menu & Market serving freshly prepared meals, Gallery Kitchen breakfast available daily and a full-service coffee bar in the lobby.
“McWhinney is excited to be joining the Peña Station NEXT community,” McWhinney Chief Investment Officer Dave Johnstone said. “This is a unique, sustainable development in a prime location by Denver International Airport, and we look forward to adding a Hyatt Place hotel into the mix.”
The hotel will be managed by Denver-based Sage Hospitality, a hotel and restaurant management company, real estate investor and hospitality brand developer.
Peña Station NEXT is being developed by L.C. Fulenwider Inc. in partnership with the Denver International Airport Division of Real Estate and Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Co. Modeled after smart city concepts, Peña Station NEXT is a 382-acre, $500M project that will offer 1.5M SF of commercial space, 500K SF of retail and 2,500 residences.
“Peña Station NEXT will be a global showcase for how to develop innovation districts within the fabric of existing cities, changing the way development is done and setting a new standard for smart, sustainable, connected living,” Fulenwider President Ferd Belz said. “The Hyatt Place hotel will be a great amenity for the Peña Station NEXT neighborhood.”
