Construction Defects Fix Passes Senate

Placeholder

A new construction defects law, the lack of which has plagued condo development in Colorado for some time, is closer to reality with the passage of a reform bill by the Colorado Senate this week. The measure, Senate Bill 177, passed 24-11 with mostly Republican but also some Democratic votes. Colorado House Speaker Dickey Lee Hullinghort, however, let it be known that the bill will have to be amended to allow aggrieved condo owners the right to take their disputes with builders to court, the Denver Business Journal reports. Similar bills have died before making it to a vote each of the last two years. [DBJ]
