Cool New Building Tech
We're always on the hunt for unique building amenities, and Boulder-based ShelfX has unveiled at-shelf buying technology that could bring in more money for owners in spaces that typically don't produce much revenue (lobbies, for example) or don't have conventional retail space. ShelfX CEO Ran Margalit says the vending technology—which needs no cashiers or product scanning—only requires the wave of a shopper's pre-paid “Xcard” or the swipe of a credit card. Then the buyer selects any product. Totals are automatically shown on display units at the shelf and immediately deducted from their account.
