Greenwood Village Building Goes Gold Again
LEED certification is good, but recertification is better. The 469k SF Plaza Tower One at 6400 S Fiddlers Green Circle in Greenwood Village recently achieved LEED Gold recertification. Owner Granite Properties' Sylvia Golisano, the company's engineering and sustainability coordinator, tells us the extra effort is worth it for a building like Plaza Tower One. "Healthier buildings means healthier occupants," she says. "Our goal is to create environments that inspire people to flourish."
The 22-story property dates from 1985 and has been LEED Gold since 2009. The recent recert process included (among other things) documenting the building's Energy Star score at 92, putting it in the top 8% of all comparable buildings; documenting a 46%-plus reduction in restroom water consumption; increasing the building's recycling rate by almost 75%; and diverting over 4,600 pounds of e-waste.
