Ian Douglas

Ian focuses his practice on real estate law and finance transactions, assisting clients in all aspects of purchase and sale transactions, leasing and commercial finance. He has broad experience handling real estate matters in Arizona and throughout the United States, including drafting and negotiating documents, performing due diligence, and closing transactions. Ian represents school districts, home builders, developers and investors in all aspects of the acquisition and disposition of real property, including undeveloped land, office buildings, multi-family housing projects, retail centers, industrial properties and residential lots. He represents regional and national landlords and tenants in all aspects of leases for restaurants, retail centers, warehouses, medical and dental offices, office buildings, communications towers, agricultural property, and casinos on a nationwide basis, and he has represented international mining companies and utility companies in real estate matters ranging from easements and right-of-ways to leasing, property and mining claim acquisitions, and adverse possession claims. Ian also represents borrowers and lenders in connection with loans secured by real and personal property, including drafting and negotiating loan documents, performing due diligence and offering legal opinions. Ian spent several years practicing in New Mexico where he represented school districts in a wide variety of matters including employment discrimination claims, real estate issues, copyright and trademark issues, special education, and general contract issues. He also represented regional restaurants in leasing matters, as well as a regional bank handling residential mortgage foreclosures. When he is not working, Ian and his wife enjoy traveling, camping, cooking and college sports. Ian is licensed in Arizona and New Mexico, and he is an enrolled member of the Samish Indian Tribe headquartered in Anacortes, Washington.
