Bisnow Bosses: A Minute With Natascha Bhuiyan
Bisnow proudly presents a new series called “Bisnow Bosses” focused on introducing you to the men and women building Bisnow, and your business, in your local market. Our mission is to inform and connect you to do more business, and our bosses take it seriously! Here’s a quick chat with Natascha Bhuiyan, our director of European events. We spoke with her about Bisnow Europe’s humble beginnings and her trips to Burning Man.
Natascha Bhuiyan is the director of Bisnow Europe.
Tell us who you are?
I’m German-Bengali and I embrace the best of both worlds: super efficiency and amazing food.
What is your most insane experience at Bisnow so far?
Moving from New York to London and launching Bisnow UK out of a bedroom in Bermondsey. Two years later, Bisnow reaches almost 80,000 commercial real estate professionals in the UK and Ireland through our news and have welcomed more than 12,000 attendees to our events in the past two years. That’s insane!
Why Bisnow and why the commercial real estate industry?
I love Bisnow’s entrepreneurial take on a traditional industry. I studied political science in university and was always fascinated by how cities develop. I quickly discovered that real estate is about more than just buildings: it is about people, creating places and bringing communities together. That’s what I love about it.
What was the worst job you ever had?
I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad job. If I did, I would like to think I would quit immediately. Life is too short to waste time on things that don't make you happy.
Coolest trip you’ve ever been on?
Burning Man. Living in the desert with no service, electricity or running water with thousands of strangers was definitely one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had.
What keeps you up at night?
My to-do list, which drives me crazy sometimes. I go over my to-do list every night before I fall asleep. If I haven’t reached all of my goals that I’ve set myself, I figure out why, register it and aim to do better the next day.
What is your most embarrassing moment?
When I first moved to London, I didn’t know anyone outside of Bisnow. To socialise and make new connections, I took an improv class at Hoopla Improv. And yes, at the end of the course, we had a final performance in front of the entire school. I wanted to die! My lines were terrible and my jokes were the worst! But it was still good fun, at least in retrospect.
Where will you be 10 years from now?
After opening my kitchen window to receive my drone package in the morning, I’ll fly my kids to space-kindergarten. Afterward, I’d go to work and continue saving the world.
Scariest moment of your life?
Going to a Justin Bieber concert and actually enjoying it.
How do you describe what you do to your buddies and clients?
I head up our European events and work closely with our partners in Dublin on branding and content campaigns. We launched Dublin in spring 2018 and there are still so many people to meet! I’m incredibly eager to get to know them all, go for coffee, to their offices, see their developments and learn as much as I can about their businesses, exploring ways how our platform can support their efforts.
