From February 1996 to December 1997, he founded and served as CEO of Homegate Hospitality, Inc. Bob also served from December 2002 until February 2006 as the South Carolina Secretary of Commerce. Bob is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council, the Pension Real Estate Association, and the Urban Land Institute. Barry Sternlicht is Chairman & CEO of Starwood Capital Group, the private alternative investment firm he formed in 1991 focused on global real estate, hotel management, oil and gas, and energy infrastructure. Mr. Sternlicht also serves as Chairman of Starwood Property Trust (NYSE: STWD), the largest commercial mortgage REIT in the U.S.; and French crystal maker Baccarat S.A.; as well as member of the Board of Directors of Invitation Homes (NYSE: INVH) the largest publicly traded investor, owner and operator of single-family homes in the U.S. For the past 26 years, Mr. Sternlicht has structured investments with an asset value of approximately $92 billion. Starwood Capital’s funds have invested in approximately 172,500 multifamily/condo units, 2,900 hotels, 74 million square feet of office properties, 54 million square feet of retail and 52,000 lots of land in residential subdivisions. The Firm currently manages approximately $56 billion of assets on behalf of its high net worth and institutional partners. In 2016, Mr. Sternlicht was the recipient of PERE’s inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2015, he was named the Global Industry Figure of the Year by PERE, received the Cornell Icon of the Industry Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Hotel Investment Forum. In 2013, Mr. Sternlicht was named the Most Important Person in Commercial Real Estate Finance by The Mortgage Observer. In 2010, Mr. Sternlicht was named Executive of the Year and Investor of the Year by Commercial Property Executive. Mr. Sternlicht was also named America’s Best Lodging CEO by Institutional Investor Magazine. He is a member of the Interior Design Magazine Hall of Fame. He has received the Preston Robert Tisch Distinguished Industry Leadership Award from New York University, the CEO Diversity Award from Diversity Best Practices/Business Women’s Network, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Travel Marketing Executives, the Hospitality Heritage Award from the American Hotel and Lodging Association, and the Marketer of the Year Award from Brandweek. Mr. Sternlicht’s humanitarian efforts have garnered prestigious national honors such as JDRF’s Man of the Year, JDRF’s Living and Giving Award and JDRF’s Chairman’s Award. Barry Sternlicht received his BA, magna cum laude, with honors from Brown University. He later earned an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School.

Willy Walker

Willy Walker is consistently recognized as one of the most influential executives in the United States commercial real estate finance industry. He joined the company in 2003 as executive vice president and chief operating officer and became chief executive officer in 2007. Under Mr. Walker’s leadership, Walker & Dunlop has grown from a small, family-owned business with one office and forty-six employees to become one of the largest commercial real estate finance companies in the United States with twenty-five offices and over five hundred employees. Walker & Dunlop has been named one of the "50 Fastest Growing Companies" in the Washington Region every year since 2011, named a "Great Places to Work" in 2012, 2013 and 2015, and named a “Top Workplace” by the Washington Post in 2014 and 2016. Investors in Walker & Dunlop’s IPO saw their stock appreciate 191% in the company’s first five years as a public company. Mr. Walker won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2011. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Walker was president of the European and Latin American divisions of TeleTech, a global business process outsourcing company. He previously worked at private equity firm Newbridge Latin America, and was also general manager of a regional airline start-up in Argentina. He currently serves on the boards of the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Federal City Council, the Sustainable Technology Fund, and St. Albans School. Mr. Walker was Chairman of the Board of the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) from 2008 until 2012, and Chairman of the Board of Transcom, a global business process outsourcing company, from 2007 until 2012. Mr. Walker received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Lawrence University and Master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard University. He has run the Boston Marathon in 2:36, is an avid cyclist, and can likely be found on the ski slopes of Sun Valley when not running Walker & Dunlop.

Susan Mello

Based in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area, Susan Mello heads Walker & Dunlop’s entire Capital Markets platform. Ms. Mello brings over 28 years of experience in real estate investments and joint ventures, and she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s structured debt and equity transactions through a wide range of capital sources. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Ms. Mello served as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at PGIM Real Estate where she oversaw a series of U.S. multi-product closed end equity funds, with direct responsibility for capital raising, investment strategy, portfolio construction and investment selection. During her time at PGIM Real Estate, Ms. Mello held a variety of roles in transactions, portfolio, and asset management, and was directly involved in the structuring, negotiation, and management of more than $5 billion of value-add investments. Prior to PGIM, Ms. Mello was a partner at McCarter & English, LLP law firm where she worked extensively on structuring real estate investments and joint ventures on behalf of owners. Ms. Mello earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from Rutgers University, an LLM in taxation from New York University, and a JD with high honors from Rutgers University School of Law. She is a member of the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC); the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where she is on the leadership team for Urban Development and Mixed Used Council, Gold; the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC); and the tax policy committee of the Real Estate Roundtable. Ms. Mello is also active in diversity and inclusion efforts within the industry and is a member of NMHC’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, as well as the Steering Committee for KPMG's Women in Real Estate.

Allina Boohoff

Allina Boohoff, managing director, is the head of asset management’s Multifamily Sector at J.P.Morgan Asset Management – Global Real Assets. An employee since 2003, she is responsible for leading the asset management efforts for the group’s multifamily portfolio in the U.S., a 50,000 unit, 190-property portfolio valued at $14 billion. Allina is responsible for major joint venture partner relationships in the multifamily sector and has significant involvement in client meetings and presentation related to multifamily investments. She has 20 years of real estate experience and was previously the financial controller for the multi-family portfolio and a financial controller for the Alternative Property Fund and transferred to asset management in 2006. Prior to joining the firm, Allina worked for Ernst & Young LLP, where she was a senior accountant in the Real Estate Group. Allina holds a B.S. in finance and economics from the Stern School of Business at New York University, an M.S. in accounting from Mendoza School of Business at University of Notre Dame and is also a CPA. She is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and is a holder of the CFA designation. She also serves on the board of National Multi Housing Council and is a member of ULI’s bronze multifamily council.

Bob Kettler

Bob Kettler is the Chief Executive Officer and owner of Kettler, one of the D.C. region’s largest private companies and a leading real estate development and property management enterprise. Mr. Kettler began his career in the early 1970’s renovating apartments and retail stores, as well as building new homes in D.C. neighborhoods. In 1977 he formed Kettler (under the name Kettler and Scott) as a home building company and later transitioned from home builder to planned community developer in the early 1980’s. Utilizing capital from institutional investors and banking institutions, Kettler experienced rapid growth and became the leading planned community developer in the D.C. region. In over 25 projects, Kettler has provided 46,000 developed lots to both public and private home builders, 15 shopping centers, 10 million square feet of planned commercial uses, and 8 eight championship golf courses. Examples of these developments in Virginia include Cascades, Brambleton and Piedmont. Currently, Kettler has over 2,000 lots in development, primarily in infill locations, on a total of 10 properties from Baltimore, MD to Fredericksburg, VA. Kettler has been successful in developing several notable commercial mixed use projects of approximately 5 million square feet including the 1.4MM square foot Village at Leesburg and the 2MM square foot Trinity Center. Beginning in 1988, Kettler entered the apartment development industry building over 24,000 multifamily units in garden, mid-rise, high-rise and mixed-use properties. These developments also include award winning luxury apartment communities such as Metropolitan Park in Pentagon City as well as 2,500 condominium homes with a gross sales value of nearly $1 billion. Examples of these communities are Midtown Alexandria Station and Midtown Reston Town Center. Additionally, Kettler has developed 7,000 tax credit and bond financed apartments in 40 properties. Currently ranked as the 16th largest multifamily developer in the nation and the 2015 development firm of the year by MHN, Kettler’s development pipeline includes over 5,000 total units. Projects currently under construction in the D.C. metropolitan area are The Acadia at Metropolitan Park, Element 28 in Bethesda, m.flats Crystal City, 2101 Champlain Street in Washington D.C. and Highgate in McLean, VA. Additionally in 1988, Kettler established Kettler Management, the property management division of the organization. Recognized for its excellence and named the 2008 Property Management Company of the Year by NAHB, Kettler Management provides best in class management, marketing, and pre-development services to its clients. The company currently manages over 30,000 apartments in 100+ communities throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South East and Texas for both Kettler affiliates and third-party clients. Recognized as a leader in the real estate development industry, Mr. Kettler has been the recipient of the Building Industry Association’s Monument Lifetime Achievement Award, the Developer of the Year award given by the National Association of Home Builder’s as well as appearing on the Washington Business Journals Power 100 list for the last three consecutive years. Currently, Mr. Kettler serves on the board of the Trust for the National Mall, the Tysons Partnership board, the Kennedy Center corporate board and Wesley Seminary board. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Kettler served on boards for George Mason University, Northern Virginia Community College, the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association, and the National Methodist Church. He has also served as a Trustee at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School in Washington, D.C., and the Potomac School in McLean, VA. Mr. Kettler and his wife, Charlotte, co-chaired a successful $50 million capital campaign to redevelop the Potomac School in McLean, VA. Kettler also sponsors an annual scholars program at the George Mason University Center for Regional Analysis for the study of multifamily housing. Additionally, Kettler is the official apartment management company of Monumental Sports and Entertainment, and has been the sponsor of the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, the state of the art official training center for The Washington Capitals since its grand opening in 2006. David Brickman

David M. Brickman is the Chief Executive Officer of NewPoint Real Estate Capital and Executive Chairman of Meridian Capital Group, a leading commercial real estate services firm. He also serves as a Senior Advisor to Stone Point Capital, a leading private equity firm in the real estate and financial services arenas. At the end of January 2021 David stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of Freddie Mac, one of the largest providers of mortgage financing in the U.S. Prior to that, he served as President and as a member of the Board of Directors. During his tenure he led the $2 trillion company through a period of significant growth, change, and disruption as the firm successfully navigated the challenges of the COVID crisis. Brickman spent most of his career at Freddie Mac leading and transforming the multifamily business, presiding over a remarkable period of growth. Production rose from $16 billion in 2010 to almost $80 billion in 2018. He also established the company’s flagship K-Deal securitization program as one of the leading securitized products in the structured finance market. He drove significant innovation by expanding Freddie Mac’s products and offerings – particularly those serving the growing need for affordable and workforce housing. Brickman’s educational accomplishments include doctoral coursework for a Ph.D. in economics and real estate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He’s been a professorial lecturer at George Washington University, an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University and is a non-resident Fellow at the Urban Institute. He also holds a US patent for a unique mortgage-backed security structure.

Chris Czarnecki joined Broadstone in 2009 and became CEO in 2017; in this role he is responsible for leading the overall Broadstone organization, including Broadstone Net Lease and Broadtree Residential. In previous roles at Broadstone, Chris served as the firm’s President and Chief Financial Officer. In these roles he oversaw various functions, including capital markets activities, accounting, property management and operations. Rebecca has more than 30 years of specialized experience in Hospitality, restaurant and multifamily interior architecture and design. A true Texan at heart, she received her BFA degree from Texas Tech University and studied at Parsons School of Design in NYC. She spent 12 years working in New York with a sole focus on Hospitality before starting her name sake firm. As owner and principal of the firm, she continues to set the design direction and tone for all interior projects. Her experience in all types of renovation and new construction influences not only the creative process but the functional and operational process which she believes are the essential foundations of good design. Rebecca strives to create cutting edge design that is timeless. She has chosen for the firm to be sized appropriately so she can maintain her hands on style in oversight and development of RDJA projects. Robert Iber

Bob Iber is currently serving as Senior Advisor in the Office of Multifamily Housing Programs at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. He has served in an acting capacity in several positions in the Department’s Headquarters including Program Advisor to the FHA Commissioner; Director Office of Asset Management; Director Office of Multifamily Development; Director of Multifamily Counterparty and Asset Oversight Division and most recently the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of Multifamily Housing Programs. He began his career in the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 1987 as an Attorney Advisor in the Maryland State Office. He moved on to supervisory functions in the Loan Management Branch in 1989, becoming the Branch Chief in 1993. He was reassigned to the position of Multifamily Housing Director in the Baltimore Multifamily Hub in March 1998. He has been on the Department’s National Loan Committee since its inception, stepping down after two years as the Chair. He has been a designer and trainer in several Departmental initiatives including the 1997 Reorganization, Compliance and Monitoring, Risk Mitigation, Breaking Ground Production Initiative, and the 2014 Transformation. Mr. Iber has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Maryland College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is a member of the Maryland Bar Association. He also has been a member of the Baltimore County Rental Housing Task Force and the Baltimore County Multifamily Housing Advisory Group. In 2004, Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc. (CHAI) recognized him as its Public Servant of the Year.

Polly Donaldson

Polly Donaldson has served as the Director of the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) since January 2, 2015. As Director, she oversees 180+ employees, 14 program areas and manages an operating budget of over $250 million to preserve and produce rental and homeownership opportunities for District residents while leading the charge of revitalizing underserved neighborhoods. The Director is well-known in DC affordable housing circles and has had great influence throughout the city. Her nonprofit career spans over 27 years, with senior management experience in homelessness, affordable housing and international community development. Prior to joining DHCD, Donaldson served as the Executive Director of the Transitional Housing Corporation (THC) for over 10 years and THC Affordable Housing, Inc., since its founding in June 2005. Under Donaldson’s leadership, THC was on the front lines addressing the city’s housing crunch, working with churches, charities and other nonprofit groups to produce and support affordable units for the formerly homeless. Donaldson served on the DC Interagency Council on Homelessness in 2009 and was re-appointed in 2013. She is the former board president of the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development, an umbrella group of affordable housing developers. In 2012, she also served on the Comprehensive Housing Strategy Task Force assembled by former Mayor Gray. In 2014, Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser named Donaldson as the co-chair of the Transition Team’s Affordable Housing Committee. Donaldson served as the chair of Mayor Bowser’s Affordable Housing Preservation Strike Force. Donaldson has lived in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood in Ward 1 for over 24 years. In the late 1990s, she was elected and served as the chair of the Mt. Pleasant Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 1-E. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in social and behavioral science from The Johns Hopkins University.

Richard Lake is a founding Principal of Roadside Development. Roadside was formed 20 years ago as a Washington, DC-based development company, focused on the creation of retail and mixeduse environments. Roadside has become one of the leading experts in urban and town center development throughout the metropolitan Washington, DC region. Mr. Lake has been responsible for overall acquisition, entitlement, development, leasing, and property management of more than 25 million SF over the past three decades. Notable recent projects include City Ridge located at 3900 Wisconsin Avenue, NW which occupies 550 feet of frontage along Wisconsin Avenue NW, the site includes approximately 9.71 acres of land that is bound by a residential neighborhood to the south, Glover-Archbold Park to the west, and a private office building to the north; City Market at O & 880P, a million square foot, urban infill project in the heart of the Shaw neighborhood in Washington DC, which spans two city blocks and featuresnearly 90,000 square feet of retail, 550 luxury rental apartments, 90 affordable senior rental units, a 182-room key hotel, a 500-car parking garage, and incorporates the historic preservation of the nationally registered landmark O Street Market; Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center, a 105-acre mixed-use retail town center and residential community in Woodbridge, Virginia; and Cityline at Tenley, which preserved and transformed an abandoned historic Sears building into an award-winning mixed-use project that attracted Washington, DC’s first Best Buy and Container Storeretailers while also incorporating a contemporary addition of 204 luxury condominium units. Mr. Lake’s talent for working with development teams and optimizing a project’s full value potential throughout all stages of the real estate cycle is one of his greatest assets. He has also served as a consultant on several real estate projects throughout the country, with an expertise in place-making, by creating successful retail environments and public spaces that amenitize and enhance residential, commercial, and cultural uses to become vibrant mixed-use communities. Mr. Lake is a native Washingtonian and has been an active member of the business community for over 30 years. Prior to co-founding Roadside Development, he was the founding partner of The Retail Group and led Madison Retail Group, a full-service retail brokerage firm that was the dominant leader in the DC and Mid-Atlantic markets. He began his career in real estate as a broker with Smithy Braedon ONCOR International. He is a graduate of Boston University. Mr. Lake currently serves on the board of directors for several non-profit and economic development organizations, including Co-Chair of the Washington DC Economic Partnership, Iona Senior Services (also previously President of the Board), Executive Committee Member for DCBIA, Prince William County Economic Advisory Board and Trustee of Federal City Council. Jonathan Slager

Jonathan Slager serves as Co-CEO of Bridge Investment Group and CIO of Bridge Multifamily Fund Manager LLC, and has 31 years of experience in the real estate, finance, and software industries. Mr. Slager has been involved in underwriting, acquiring and managing over $3.5 Billion in assets including all ROC fund assets, and has been a key driver of asset executions and returns. From 2005 to 2009, Mr. Slager was with The Pacific Group USA, Inc., and with Bridge Loan Capital Fund. He was responsible for major acquisitions, development, and entitlements and financing of major real estate projects. For nearly a decade prior to that, Mr. Slager worked at The Koll Company and then Wells Fargo Bank. At these leading institutions he was responsible for the acquisition, development, asset management and disposition of commercial real estate assets. Mr. Slager played the leading role on large institutional commercial real estate projects ranging from resort, residential, office, industrial and retail projects. While at Wells Fargo, Mr. Slager negotiated purchase agreements, performed feasibility analyses, coordinated resolution of zoning and entitlement issues, arranged debt financing, oversaw construction, managed assets, and performed leasing and marketing services. During that period, his team acquired land and buildings valued in excess of US$700 million; managed multiple development projects of over 1.6 million square feet of commercial office, industrial, retail, residential, and resort real estate; and formed joint ventures with private and institutional partners, such as Aetna and John Hancock. Mr. Slager earned his Master in Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from New York University in 1985.
