Capitol Tower's Platinum
Skanska is pushing forward on development plans for Capitol Tower. The latest: It’s the first office tower in Houston (and only the third in the US) to be pre-certified LEED Platinum in the latest standards. Capitol Tower is one of 122 beta projects worldwide using the new LEED v4 criteria, and Skanska has said it wants this to be the most sustainable building in Houston.
The Gensler-designed building includes 90% access to daylight (which makes it a tough place to play hide and seek, but we all need to make sacrifices), a high-performance building façade that significantly reduces solar gain, and a garage with occupancy lighting sensors and green rooftop. Skanska is in demolition phase in preparation for the 35-story, 750k SF property.
