Put a garbage disposal in your multifamily units and forget about cable TV, says a new study by the NMHC and Kingsley Associates. The firms got feedback from 15,000 multifamily residents about the amenities they crave, and found that 88% rate high-speed Internet, patio, in-unit washer/dryer, and garbage disposal as important. But ceiling fans, granite countertops, and walk-in pantry all rate higher than cable TV. (That probably has something to do with the fact that there's never anything good to watch.) Community-wide, residents want fitness centers (84% rate as important) and package delivery rooms (78%) more than community-wide Internet access (70%).
