2 Kids First to See Retreat at Harpers Preserve Construction?
Through Allied Orion's Tommy Le's work with Big Brothers Big Sisters, two little kids got to tour the development of Retreat at Harper's Preserve, the 216-unit community underway in The Woodlands. Tommy's been matched with Devin and Nakia for about 2.5 years, and although they enjoy fun activities like Astros and Dynamo games, parks and the Children's Museum, he says the kids particularly enjoy seeing different jobs in action. He thinks Devin's favorite outing was visiting a Houston sheriff (it included pressing the button for the police car's siren and seeing all the cool items on his duty belt).
This summer, the kids spent some time in the Allied Orion office, meeting people across departments. And right before the holidays, they got to tour the project—they loved wearing the hard hats and seeing the insides of an unfinished building. Tommy tells us he tries to make education a focal point every time they meet.
