Furniture Company Entering Texas With Two Giant Houston Facilities
American Furniture Warehouse has purchased two sites in the Houston area.
The Colorado-based retailer will build a 499K SF mega-store on 29 acres at the northeast corner of Interstate 10 and Pin Oak Road in Katy, and a 355K SF location on 23 acres on I-45 in Webster, just south of Nasa Bypass.
The dual deals are AFW's first foray into Texas; it has 12 locations in Colorado and two in Arizona. It will face steep competition from Houston's furniture powerhouses, including Gallery Furniture (led by Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, lauded as a local hero), Rooms To Go and IKEA, each of which has large-scale developments around the area.
Baker Katz’s Ben Brown represented the buyer in both AFW deals. Giammalva Properties’ Vincent Giammalva represented the seller, Katy Village Investment, in the Katy deal.
