Randall Davis Co. Unveils Plans For 12-Story Luxury Condo Building In Rice Village

Randall Davis Co. plans to start construction this year on The Chaucer, a luxury mid-rise condominium building in Rice Village and the latest in a string of high-end condo projects to enter the Houston market.

The Chaucer will have 29 residences throughout 12 floors priced at $1.5M to $4.5M, according to a news release from Randall Davis Co. Floor plans will have either two or three bedrooms, and five of the residences will be penthouses, the release says.

Construction is set to begin in September, which is also when residents can start moving into London House, another 12-story condominium building by Randall Davis Co. on San Felipe Street in River Oaks, according to its website.

Builders broke ground on London House in early 2023 when it was already 35% sold. Only six of the 23 units remain available, according to the Houston Business Journal. The available condos start at $1.6M.

Randall Davis Co. founder and owner Randall Davis’ interest in Rice Village goes back almost two decades to when he was involved with Sonoma, a mixed-use project at Bolsover Street and Morningside Drive that never materialized.

The development, which also included luxury condos in its design, planned to utilize a block of Bolsover Street that Houston sold to the developers in 2007 for $1.5M. The project was put on hold in 2008 amid the economic downturn, and Hanover later developed the site into an apartment complex with ground-floor retail.

The Chaucer will be at 2360 Rice Blvd., about a block away. A sales gallery is already open, along with a sign advertising “poetic living,” a callback to 14th-century English poet and author Geoffrey Chaucer, for whom the intersecting street and condominium complex are named.

Gordana Vickers of Compass and Compass Development Marketing Group are marketing The Chaucer.

Davis said the residences will be highly customizable, telling Chron.com, “I can put a toilet on the ceiling if the client wants that.”

Construction is projected to be completed in two years.
