8th Wonder Brewery To Add Distillery
8th Wonder Brewery will open a 5K SF distillery at 22011 Dallas, across from the current brewery in EaDo. No opening date has been set, the Houston Business Journal reports. The first spirits co-founders Ryan Soroka, Alex Vassilakidis and Aaron Corsi are planning include an agave spirit, vodka and gin. Whiskey and other aged spirits will come further down the line. The group has secured the distilling equipment and is filing permits.
Plans for the distillery started about four years ago, but were not put into action until the brewery began to search for space to expand last year. The new distillery, a one-acre parking lot and a 10-year extension were finalized in August. CBRE's Rima Soroka represented 8th Wonder.
While Houston's craft beer scene has been growing by leaps and bounds, distilling has been slow to follow. Whitmeyeres Distilling Co. and Yellow Rose distilling have made waves in Houston. More recently, BJ Hooker's Vodka and Grateful Dane Distilling have made a name in the city.
