Exxon Plans $450M Further Expansion In Beaumont
Less than a year after expansions were announced at Exxon Mobil's Beaumont refinery, the company has announced plans to expand it even further. The second round of expansion will cost $450M and create 750 construction jobs and five permanent jobs.
The project will increase the plant's ultra-low sulfur fuels capacity by approximately 40,000 barrel per day. The project will install a selective cat naphta unit, which removes sulfur while minimizing octane cost. Design on the project is underway at Bechtel, a San Francisco-based firm. Construction will begin in mid-2016 and will be completed in 2018.
