Mitsubishi Subsidiary Moves HQ From NYC To Houston
This week, executives at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America (MHIA), alongside Governor Gregg Abbott and the Greater Houston Partnership, announced it's relocating its North American HQ to Houston from NYC. The wholly owned subsidiary functions as the company's oversight for a number of industrial divisions, reports the Houston Business Journal.
The goal is to keep the office small. Around 20 employees will work out of 16k SF in 20 Greenway Plaza. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has about 1,200 employees in Texas and recently completed a 180k SF manufacturing facility that will employ an additional 200 when fully operational.
With amenities like direct flights and a focus on Japanese retail, it's no surprise that Japan represents the second-largest foreign investment market for the greater Houston area. [HBJ]
