Northeast Houston's Growth Is No Longer Under The Radar
Memorial Hermann is expanding its Northeast Hospital, H-E-B just acquired 54 acres in Humble, Costco opened near Kingwood, and the area will soon be home to a 72-acre Class-A industrial park.
Houston's Edge Development Partners is developing International Tech Park Houston just south of Humble, reports the Houston Business Journal. The project will have 750k SF of industrial space when completed. Things will kick off with a 33k SF spec building breaking ground soon. The park will have Class-A tilt-wall manufacturing, distribution and showroom space. Edge will be acting as its own general contractor.
For years, northeast Houston has been mostly rooftops, with no major employment centers and little commercial development. Edge's International Trade Park Houston, in tandem with McCord's 4,000-acre Generation Park, will go a long way towards addressing that issue. With all the pieces finally in place, expect people to take notice of northeast Houston. [HBJ]
