Whiskey Goes Houstonian
Yellow Rose Distilling, the first legal distillery to open in the Houston city limits, is celebrating its grand opening Saturday, and we got a sneak peek. Here are co-founders Ryan Baird and Troy Smith in the 10k SF space on N. Post Oak, which includes storage, bottling room, 650-pound still, offices, and a tasting room/events space. Ryan tells us being the first isn’t always easy—the fire marshal and building inspectors weren’t entirely sure how to handle it. Yellow Rose produces four award-winning varieties of whiskey and recently launched a vodka, and it sells amazing whiskey maple syrup.
