Spaceport's First Tenant
As Ellington prepares to become the 10th commercial spaceport in the US, anchor tenant Intuitive Machines is excitedly gearing up its specific plans. The firm is led by CEO Stephen Altemus, a former NASA deputy center director, and hopes to HQ out of Ellington. Stephen’s envisioning a mixed-use building (up to 25k SF to start) with machining and manufacturing and office space, reports the Houston Business Journal. It’s up in the air if Intuitive Machines will use an existing building or develop something. The airport aims to build a cluster of aerospace companies, and Sierra Nevada Corp has also expressed interest in being part of it. Ellington spaceport could launch micro satellites, train astronauts, conduct zero-gravity experiments and manufacture spacecraft. [HBJ]
