1.6M SF Entertainment Development Coming To Southeast Houston Town
Houston developer Medistar will build a 1.6M SF entertainment and retail development in Webster.
The project, known as FlyWay Webster, will encompass 120 acres and is set to break ground later this year, after beginning infrastructure construction over the last year, according to the Houston Business Journal.
The company is looking at a 2024 completion, though pandemic-related supply chain issues have delayed the project by as long as six months, Medistar Senior Vice President Avi Efezouaty told the HBJ.
The development will include retail, restaurants and bars, as well as an event lawn. It's located next to the upcoming Great Wolf Lodge, a 30-acre indoor waterpark and resort.
“It’s more of a destination where you can go and spend not just an hour at a particular restaurant, but just go from restaurants and walk around, maybe go to a bar,” Medistar Vice President Gino Hourani told the HBJ. “The whole idea is to have synergy between all the tenants and the users that are in the space.”
Medistar bought the property from Exxon in 2016. Baker Katz, JKHat, IDS Engineering and Stantec are consultants.
SRS Real Estate Partners is marketing the property on Webster's proximity to Space Center Houston, Baybrook Mall and other large entertainment venues.
"The overall character of FlyWay at Clear Creek is driven by the unique location of the site. Strategically located along the banks of Clear Creek, the development celebrates its connection to the water," marketing material states. "Proximity to the water attracts users looking for excitement, entertainment, adventure, recreation, relaxation, and a high quality of life."
