On Thursday night, the doors will open and the beat will drop at Club Nomadic for up to 9,000 partygoers — if the venue has its permits. The 63k SF pop-up Club Nomadic is still awaiting inspections and occupancy permits the day before its big debut. The nightclub in Sawyer Yards at 2121 Edwards St. is scheduled to open with DJ Duo The Chainsmokers on Feb. 2, followed by Bruno Mars on Feb. 3 and Taylor Swift on Feb. 4, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The project broke ground on Nov. 29 and completed construction within 60 days. Led by Connecticut-based Nomadic Entertainment Group, the project team included Myrex Industries, Steel Master and Lagrone Services. A 58k SF eco-friendly True Grid parking lot was installed to accommodate traffic flow and reduce flooding.

A club spokeswoman told the Chronicle the owners and the city were working to satisfy all requirements within 24 hours. Nomadic Entertainment Group president Jack Murphy said city officials had visited Tuesday and that he was confident the venue would be ready by Thursday. "This is 100% how it goes down. We get our certificate of occupancy the day before the event." [Chron]
