'Big, Beautiful' Auto Dealership Coming To 59 And Shepherd
Sonic Automotive plans to build a new dealership on a prime piece of real estate along 59, across from the existing seven-story Audi dealership, also built by Sonic. The 2.4-acre tract acquired by Sonic has housed Stahlman Lumber since 1960. HCAD assessed the tract at $9.1M.
While details were scarce, Sonic Automative's executive vice president of operations, Jeff Dyke, spoke to the Houston Chronicle about the dealership. "It will be a big, beautiful one."
Sonic Automative made Houston headlines in 2012 with its seven-story Audi dealership, built on just 1.2 acres. Dubbed a high-rise dealership, the design was praised as a model for urban, vertical car lot design. Since, the dealership has become one of the most visible in the MSA.
Sonic Automotive operates 24 dealerships and four collision centers throughout the Houston area.
