H-E-B Breaks Ground On New Baytown Store
An H-E-B is officially underway in Baytown. The grocer broke ground yesterday on a plot at the corner of Garth and Hunt, near the San Jacinto Mall. The 80k SF location is expected to open by the end of 2017, according to City Council minutes. Earlier this year, the Baytown City Council approved a 380 agreement for the new H-E-B Store. The agreement provides for a $2.75M investment from the city and a $15M investment from H-E-B by January 2017.
The tract is adjacent to Baytown Shops, a retail property owned by Stream, which sold a portion to H-E-B. In addition to the proximity to San Jacinto Mall, the H-E-B will call Kroger Marketplace, Academy, Burlington and Kohl's neighbors, creating a retail hotspot in a fast-growing area.
